From the design atelier to executive suites, celebrities are joining the ranks of some of the most coveted designers in the business.

The latest is Sarah Jessica Parker. The “Sex and the City” star is joining Halston as president and chief creative officer, the company confirmed to WWD.

"As part of the arrangement, the actress will own an equity stake in the firm, joining a group that includes investors Harvey Weinstein and Tamara Mellon of Jimmy Choo. She will also have a seat on the Halston board alongside Weinstein and chief executive officer Bonnie Takhar. The Giving Top

There aren't enough words to describe how beautiful this BCBG Runway blouse is. Even the picture doesn't do it justice. I have seen it first hand -- I have even tried it on, and I can truthfully say it's the top that just keeps on giving. The sheer fabric allows you to layer it over a simple tank, a strapless dress or a sexy bra if you are able to rock that look (I opted for the simple tank). The top itself is a wrap top allowing you to adjust the size. My favorite part is that I can tie the top in a way that looks as if it has an empire waistline which takes the pressure of my belly. Of course you can tie it at your natural waistline for those of you with rock star abs. Pair it with trousers, skinny jeans or a pencil skirt to fit your mood and occassion. The flowers are stunning and soft and not at all over bearing.

The top is lovely in white, but I opted to buy it in black for iniam. You've got to come in and check it out...it won't be available for long!

I Am What I Am

I bought a great dress the other day. It was on sale, then on sale, and then on sale. Sounds like it was something that should have been thrown out, but honestly it's a great dress -- fantastic drape, comfortable fabric, slimming fit and exposed zippers on the sleeves to give the dress a little edge. Honestly, it's perfect. I would show you a picture or share a link but as I said it was on clearance -- there is no evidence of it. So then why waste your time talking about? The dress has a "but". The dress is short. In fact, it's About 4 to 5 inches above my knee. And since I am all leg, I find myself walking a tight rope between hip and hooker chic.

Maybe I'm exaggerating a bit, but at the end of the day the dress is shorter than what I am comfortable with. I'm a little conservative but I also have "see through," pasty white legs. Worst of all, the hereditary varicose veins are starting to rear their ugly heads. Typically I just stay away from short dresses, or I buy them in the winter when I can cover up my veins with a great pair of tights.

I meet so many women that just aren't happy with a particular part of their body. I hear it all: "my arms are too fat," my "butt is too big," my thighs are chunky," "my boobs are too busty"...the list goes on. The irony is that when I look at these women and there "problem areas", I can objectively say that those "areas" don't look bad at all! In fact, they look great and should be show to the world. We all have our issues but should those issues really rule what we can or can not wear. Why should we prisoners to our figures. Instead, we should embrace what we have and enjoy what the world of fashion has given us. My legs aren't one big vein...sure the coloring could be darker and more even, but should I turn my back on short dresses forever?

We have to accept that we are what we are. And truthfully, what we are is beautiful. We come in all sizes and shapes for a reason. Feel empowered by your body and what you have been blessed with.

The moral of the story is: I am keeping the short black dress.

Is Everything In?

I still run the heater at night, and I wear my knee high frye boots nearly every day. Now that december is in the past I feel over joyed knowing I am a step closer to silk, chiffon, linen in all the beautiful shades and silhouettes that spring has to offer.

Now that we are embarking on a new season, there are plenty of trends to acclimate to. Trends are ever changing - they have to really. If they stayed the same, there wouldn't be anything for us to buy when new seasons rolled in. Designers hold on to some trends because they are just too fabulous to let go of, but also don't hesitate to kick out other trends just as we are getting used to them. In some cases, the quick turnover methodology works -- I just couldn't get behind the "cage boot". As I search for looks I love and want to incorporate into my wardrobe, I find myself confused. Is everything in?

The more I read and research it seems like everything is in for Spring? Let's see: floral is in, blush tones are in, sherbert tones are in, mix prints are in, denim is in (was it ever out) and so are lace, ruffles, pleating and even military motifs. The most "in" thing is mixing all these styles. For example, don't be afraid to pair your army jacket with a ruffled blouse. Or try a chambray shirt with a glittery gold skirt. Mixing prints, fabrics and price points are right on with the season's trends. Everyone from Rachel Roy to BCBG is doing a "mixed media" dresses that combines different prints and fabrics. Sounds like a fashion nightmare but really it's divine.

There are a lot of choices this spring -- something for everyone!

Happy New Year ladies! I hope your holidays were as fantastic as mine! I spent several quiet days with my husband and kids. It was a much needed break to reconnect and re-energize. Truth be told, I am glad that we have officially put a tumultuous 2009 in the past. For the first time, as I embark on a new year, I feel giddy excitement about what's to unfold. I'm not one to make New Year's resolutions, but I have committed to bringing in new categories and new designers that will undoubtedly give iniam's customers a shopping experience that meets all of her needs. Iniam is evolving and moving in the direction of becoming a lifestyle boutique -- a place you where you can spoil yourself, treat a loved one, gift a relative, tailor a ball gown, or decorate your home. Best of all, it's a one stop shop. We are embarking on year 5. We just renewed our lease -- we are here to stay and most importantly we are here to give you the best service, product and sense of community a boutique can offer.

Cheers to 2010 and all the fashionable things to be relished. May this year be your best year thus far. I'm sending out positive energy and vibes for growth, success, happiness and love for all of you!

I think it's safe to say that we all have a closet full of dresses in a variety of colors, fabrics and shapes to fit our mood and occasion. Sure we can can pull together a marvelous look for a friday night out with the girls or husband/boyfriend (I've convinced my poor husband that baggy pajamas are hot on the runway for spring '10). But how many of you have the "IT" dress for a New Year's or holiday ball, a charity event, a wedding (as a bride or guest), or damn it you just want to show up at your class reunion cocktail wearing something that will leave both your ex-boyfriend (not that you care) and those jealous (ex) cheerleaders wondering how the heck you look so good. Now here is the thing, you need a gown or a fabulous cocktail dress but not the ridiculous price tag that accompanies a knock out piece by Carolina Herrera or Marchesa.

Well ladies, I have the answer. I have a variety of holiday parties to attend over the next few weeks, and I'm not one to show up empty handed. Of course flowers, wine/champagne are always a nice gesture but with the holiday season, it only seems appropriate to "gift" something. Resort wear is starting to trickle into iniam. I typically only buy a small mix of of resort goodies, but it's the season for cruises and travel to seductive beaches so we've put together a nice assortment for the traveling gal. I wish I was somewhere down south sipping cocktails from a pineapple with a little umbrella and a maraschino cherry. Alas, I am here for the holidays and the only cruising I'll be doing is down college avenue to check out sales and events in the neighborhood.

Nevertheless, we have just received our first shipment by Sachin and Babi, also know for there bodacious and jaw dropping home collection, Ankasa. Ankasa is the offspring of husband and wife team, Mr. and Mrs Ahluwalia (Sachin and Babi), who recently launched a fantastic clothing and accessory line that has the same beauty and execution they are know for in their home collection. I am a sucker for the bedding!!

I may not be traveling this season, but there are beaches and pineapple drinks some time in my not so distant future (I hope). I have to keep my resort drawer stocked!

Tuesday Tip

With my increasingly fussy skin, I am constatnly on the prowl for miracle lotions and potions. My skin just isn't as resilient as it once was. I'm definitely showing signs of aging but I refuse to "nip/tuck," and I'll leave the botox treatments for the housewives of the OC. I will however sign up for creams and elixirs that defy aging and ward off wrinkles.

Have you heard of argan oil? Argan oil is "made from the nuts of the argan tree, which grows almost exclusively in Morocco, the oil is said to have restorative and age-defying effects. It is high in vitamin E and essential fatty acids, it is believed to help all sorts of skin conditions: dry skin, acne, psoriasis, eczema, wrinkles." The oil is said have phytosterols, which are great for scar tissue and have a sort of magical effect on the hard-to-define problem of lackluster skin.

I'm not sure what the true effects of the oil will be but I am eager to give it a try.

Old is Gold

Yesterday was the 1st sunday of the month. For many of you, the 1st sunday of the month is no different than the 2nd, 3rd or 4th. For me it's a day that usually involves finding unique treasures at the Alameda Antique Fair. I've mentioned the fair before -- the more sundays I attend, the more things I buy, the more I realize what an amazing opportunity it is to find nuggets of history that have modern day appeal. Of course you have to have an appreciation for antiques or things that look antique, but there is something there for everyone.

It's easy to hop on online or to step into a department store to pick up clothing and accessories, but it's equally as easy, and at times far less expensive, to stumble on statement pieces that can add volumes to your wardrobe. Yesterday's excursion at the fair was undoubtedly my most favorite. I found little must have gems at almost every booth. What I fell in love with the most was my 1940's clutch -- it's in pristine condition and is equipped with a powder compact and lipstick case. I found equally beautiful earrings, brooches and necklaces that would add the perfect finishing touch to a holiday dress or skinny jeans and a tunic.

Yes, one man's junk is another man's treasure but trust me...there are more treasures than junk. You have to be patient and able to enjoy the rush of stuffing your mouth with kettle korn while bargaining down the price of a 100 year old frame from $75 to $60 (yes, I bought the frame and it's GORGEOUS).

My home and my closet have both been the benefactors of my antique fair escapades....yours could be too!

I can't believe that Thanksgiving is already over and we are staring Christmas right in the face. If I didn't cook and eat the turkey myself, I may have missed Thanksgiving all together. I feel like we were getting ready for Christmas right after Halloween. We're all hoping for great holiday sales, but I never thought playing Jingle Bells in October was the way to inspire people to shop.

In any case, it is THE shopping season (not that I need a season or an occasion), but it does help when I have to explain the credit card bills to my accountant, ahem, my husband. I love a good gift just like the next gal, so I've started my wish list in case "Santa" decides to come down the chimney.

The first two things on my list are both by Phillip Lim. It's been a while since I've bought anything by PL but oh boy, that's about to change. I almost fell out of my chair when I saw this peacoat leather beauty. The detachable hem gives the jacket so much versatility. I have several pieces of Phillip Lim outerwear...by far they are my most favorite. The fit and style are impeccable.

The Phillip Lim lovefest does not stop here. Take a peak at this beautiful sequined silk-chiffon top. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and I am thankful for many things this year -- one of which is Whole Foods. I'm cooking for my brood which consists of my husband, kids, and brother-in-law. With the help of good ole Whole Foods, dinner will be more about gin and tonics and dessert than it will be about slaving over a hot stove. Yes, I will do "some" cooking but I'm looking forward to quality cuddle time with my family, a little pecan pie (they don't make 'em here like they do in Texas) and some tivo.

Some time during my kids afternoon naps, I'll be sipping my cocktail and conjuring up outfits to go with my newly purchased Boutique 9 Oxford flats. I've been coveting this style for some time now but hadn't found a pair I loved till I saw this distressed, crackled metallic leather version. My first ensemble includes a Trina Turk jumpsuit and an oversized sweater -- all of which I am also thankful for.

Tuesday Tip

There are plenty of winter days where gloves are appropriate in the Bay Area. In fact, I will be sporting some over the elbow leather gloves tomorrow night for an evening out with my husband. Gloves are a great accessory for both warmth or fashion. But let's face it -- they aren't iphone or ipod friendly. It wasn't always easy to get your cashmere or wool wrapped little fingers to click the letters or song of your choice, until now.

Jewels By Branjelina?

I've never been a big fan Angelina Jolie. Undoubtedly she's gorgeous and yeah she wants to save the world, but I'm more "team jenn". As for Brad Pitt, I guess he's hunky but I'd take Matthew McConaughey over him any day. Still there is no denying that Brangelina is a power couple with big things on their horizon. One of those things is their new venture in high-end jewelry design with Asprey via a capsule collection of gold jewelry and silver accessories called The Protector — and inspired by the snake. It's a shame that the collection won't have any striking green emeralds similar to what she wore to the Oscars.

The limited edition collection, which was conceived and designed by Pitt and Jolie, has been in the works for more than a year, and will go on sale at Asprey stores in London, New York, Beverly Hills, Tokyo and Dubai later this week, according to Asprey officials.

Prices start at $525 for a silver baby spoon with a curving, serpent-shaped handle, and all net proceeds from sales will go to Education Partnership for Children of Conflict, which was cofounded by Jolie in 2006. The charity raises awareness and funds to educate child victims of war, conflict and natural disasters.

Ummm, what the heck is with the serpent theme? When she was pregnant with their daughter Shiloh, Jolie was given a ring, in the shape of a snake. Since then she’s considered the reptile a talisman and protector of her family.

I wonder if they are doing a "high-end" version of a necklace with a blood filled vile on it?

The "L" Word

The other night it was a marathon round of tv. I'm embarrassed to admit that I watched Oprah (tivo is my best friend) plus Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice. I was able to fast forward through some of the commercials but watched Private Practice, live. I sat on my living room couch, glued to the tv. I justified watching hours of tantalizing fictional story lines as if it were remotely equivalent to reading a book. Normally I flip channels to avoid commercials but suddenly I found myself paying attention. It was a commercial for an "L" plan. And by "L," I don't mean Louboutin or Lacroix. I mean layaway or partial payment as I like to refer to it. At that one moment I realized what an ingenious plan layaway is. For years now layaway has gotten a bad rap. But truth be told, it's a great idea. Especially when it comes to designer goods.

We all know that I fall in love all the time. Though some of my obsessions must be bought as quickly as they are discovered, there are numerous items I could patiently wait for. For example, if I were to break up payments (over a 3 month period) for my beloved Chanel flats...well, let's just say I would do it! PLUS, I would avoid incurring large credit cards bills or having to take all the financial responsibility at once.

Oh, and if you want a handbag but you don't want your husband to know about it, well then perhaps a partial payment plan is the best way to keep those big purchases under the radar. A credit card charge of $1000 requires a lot more explaining than a few $300ish payments per month. Of course they aren't offering this plan at Neiman's or Barney's, though if they did, I would be all over it.

So if you are looking for a creative buying solution or you want to keep your credit cards bills manageable, a partial payment plan is a great option when making a hefty purchase! For now, iniam is figuring out how to offer this service. Stay tuned...

Little by little, amongst all the sweaters and stylish daily wear, we have been receiving bits and pieces of holiday must haves. But yesterday, there was an eruption of beautiful holiday pieces that every girl would want in her wardrobe. Velvet pants and beaded pearl sweater by Milly and a stunning wire wrapped bead dress by Haute Hippie -- both are nothing less than a fashionista's dream. But wait! There is so much more...a chanel inspired cardigan set in a soft grey color palette and chic blouses sure to be the conversation piece at any hoiday party. Oh, AND you don't want to miss the gorgeous new hair accessories. The peacock feathered headbands are my favorite!

It's like Christmas in November...I'm so excited I am shopping I mean working today!

I'm always dragging my feet when getting out of bed in the morning. I'd do just about anything for five more minutes of uninterrupted sleep. Sometimes looking awake supersedes feeling awake.

There are some trends we love because they make us look chic and then there are those trends that do even more than just making us look hip and fashionable. One of these trends is purple and blue mascara. I know violet lashes have a certain retro-'80s feel, "but the blue pigments go a step further, reflecting the whites in your eyes and making you look brighter, bolder, instantly more AWAKE."

My New Favorite T

I love James Perse tshirts -- all of them. The fabric, fit, and overall life span of these tshirts is nothing less than amazing. I feel a "but" coming on.

BUT, I've also fallen in love with another tshirt. I can't fully vouch for the quality, though so far so good, but the the fit is well....forgiving. The JCrew boyfriend tissue tee is my new BFF. It's long, a little loose and has a great neckline. The tshirt had me at "a little loose". It's great as a stand alone tee or equally as great when layered with a blazer or cardigan.

I haven't had as much luck with other JCrew tshirts, but this one is a keeper.

6 pairs of Shoes

I'm on the hunt for shoes again. My wardrobe could stand to have a few more flats so why do I keep gravitating towards OTK boots? I've always liked them, I just couldn't get myself into a pair, but now I am becoming freakishly obsessed. My Dolce Vita booties arrive tomorrow (I can't wait) and then I'll be on the hunt for some OTK boots. Since I'm off this week-end, I might pop into the city and spend a little time "investigating".

Whether or not over the knee boots or booties are your cup of tea, there are six types of shoes every women needs. I am by no means advocating that any woman should limit themselves to six pairs of shoes. I come from the "more is more" mind set -- at least where shoes are concerned. Having said that, the following are six shoe styles crucial in completing a woman's wardrobe:

1. Two inch kitten heel or wedge
2. Flat
3. Dressy/sexy high heel
4. Kicks -- a pair of sneakers that are fun (keep your Nike's for the gym)
5. Boots
6. All Weather Boots (rain boots)

I'm sipping on my cocktail (who cares if it's a tuesday night) and I'm shopping for shoes. I need a pair or all weather boots. Why the heck do I have a pair of heels in my shopping cart?

Here's a look at my latest obsession. I'm in love with Lulu Frost, a line that includes beautiful, memorable, statement necklaces in addition to many, many other jaw dropping beauties. Lisa Salzer, the 26-year old mastermind behind these one of a kind pieces, combines antiques "including long-lost room numbers from the legendary Plaza Hotel, cut steel shoes buckles from the 1860's, forgotten keys, chandelier crystal, watch fobs, rare Victorian charms and other resurrected finds" which she combines with unexpected modern elements to create art that transcends time and trends.

Good or bad, I wear my husband's pjs to bed. I feel like I can hear some of you shriek as you are reading this -- it's the truth. His PJs are VERY comfortable, but let's just say they are anything but fashionable. Though I am always on the search for stylish and cozy sleepwear, for one reason or the other I keep coming back to my tried and true...until now.

iniam has started carrying a small group of foundation wear that includes a variety of body shappers and products to help conceal, lift, and smooth your body. It's been a great addition to our clothing and accessories. What I was really hoping to do was also include some sleepwear and a smidgen of of lingerie without worrying about the 34-A, 34-B, 34-C. Next month we will receive the first of several shipments of beautiful and sexy sleepwear by Only Hearts. The fabrics are fantastic and the variety is equally as exciting. We are bringing in sexy negligees and beautiful nightgowns. Best of all, we are getting in pjs that would make any woman FEEL as lovely as she looked!

My husband is in for a treat. Buh-bye fuddy duddy, hello hot mama!

iniam recently received some fabulous new belts. We've got everything from skinny patent belts to studded waist belts that really glam up an outfit. I love accent belts but I hate it when the belt is too long. I have an easy and inexpensive fix. Try Zots by Therm O Web (125 zots for $3.59). They're clear adhesive dots intended for scrapbooking but are now also being used by stylists to keep belts from flopping around. Simply stick a zot on the underside of the floppy part of your belt and then press down to stay in place.

It was a good weekend. I enjoyed some wonderful family time and I also met with some college friends who I have not seen in at least (ahem)....10 years. Normally I would say time with friends and family would equal a great week-end, but Sunday ended with a messy house and two sore backs. We are getting the house painted tomorrow which means that my husband recruited me to join team "manual labor". It seems like my home is an on going project. First the bathroom, now paint, then some reupholstering and then possibly a kitchen remodel. I spent the better part of sunday trying to calm my screaming kids in between lifting the flat screen and pulling down wall art.

The highlight was crawling in bed with my laptop and shopping the net. I like to find and add things to my various wish lists so that if anyone, say my husband, wants to treat me for all my hardwork, say manual labor...then he'll know the right way to let me know I am appreciated. Of course there is so much to choose from! What I really want right now is a coat -- a camel colored coat at that. If it boiled down to one statement piece that I had to have, that would be the one. It's timeless, classy and coordinates with any silhouette in your closet. These days your coat can be your outfit so I feel it's justifiable to spend a little for the perfect one. The only problem is, I am coveting more than one -- decisions, decisions.

Booties Aren't Just for Babies

I really love booties. I don't own a pair. But I want a pair and I actually have clothing that will show them off! My hesitation thus far has been the heel height. The ones I love are quite high and so I find myself gravitating to yet another pair of flats. I keep thinking I can pull off hours standing on skinny little heels, but who am I kidding? Ok, so maybe I can't wear them all day but I can wear them to dinner with my husband or girls night out?

I did find a fun pair of Pedro Garcia booties that seem to have a thicker heel and perhaps might offer some more support. I am the queen of internet shopping so I haven't tried them on yet but they "look" promising and they are available in my size.

On the not so comfortable side and perhaps a style that makes no sense, I find myself yearning for booties with a peep toe. I realize that a peep toe goes against the very purpose of a boot, but mentally I have categorized peep toe booties in a "heel/pump" group-- I have no qualms with the style. In fact, I have gone as far as falling in love with a few pairs. In the end, it's the heel height that gets me.

Booties are a great compliment to a pair of leggings, skinny pants or even a dress and a pair of textured tights -- all of which I have in my wardrobe. I guess the only question now is: How many booties do I need?

My Favorite Outfit

As you know, I'm always on the quest for a great casual outfit -- something that can go from day to night, doesn't require ironing or prep time, and looks great with flats or heels. Of course I'm not about to share anything life changing - the following are all pieces you've seen over and over.

My go to out fit includes the AG premiere -- a skinny straight jean with an 8 inch rise jean that is great for a little belly support, a solid color tshirt or blouse of your choice and for the finishing touch, a long boyfriend blazer. I've tried on several jackets. Most jackets I looked at were going to cost me $500 or more. There are some beautiful options out there. Silk, cotton, wool, dressy, casual...all of them great and open for your personal interpretation. I love JCrew's version. It fits beautifully and is priced at $215. Not bad if you ask me.

First and foremost, the look is slimming. Cuff your jeans, throw on some flats and you are ready to tackle the day. Or...add heels and your ready for dinner with the girls or the date of your choice.

If you really want to make the look shine, add a long layered necklace --mixed metal chains intertwined with a little bling is the way to go. Even mixed pearls will add some va va voom. Add a cocktail ring and a clutch and you'll leave them wondering what you will be wearing tomorrow.

The Perfect Dress

I'm still building a wardrobe that fits my lifestyle. My figure and my daily routine has changed since the birth of my little guys. I'm relentless for scouring the internet and my favorite stores for pieces that not only look good now but will transcend time. I'm not one to buy a lot of smaller priced items but rather I spend more on single purchase that I will keep in my clothing rotation for seasons and beyond. Now if one of those purchases was also able to camaflouge my "problem areas" well then it's like I've hit the fashion jackpot!

Puh-lease look past the horrid gold tights and try and focus on this BCBG Runway dress even though shamefully, the picture really doesn't do the dress justice. The rich black silk is complimented by beautiful draping and a figure flattering fit. The bodice is fitted while the pleated fabric fall at just the right place giving a sophisticated and sexy look while masking the tummy, hips and bum. The neckline is plunging and the back is bare. The dress looks good on both petite or large frames. Honestly, it's the perfect dress, and just in time for the holidays.

While I was in NYC, I was perusing the vast multitude of booths when I was suddenly mesmerized by the twinkling jewels in the Cynthia Rowley collection. With all do respect, the line looked ok on its own, but with the jewels, well let's just say "Ok" never looked so good. The dresses, skirts and suit lapels were all adorned with a cluster of different sparkling broaches. The clothing itself was clean and simple but the broaches took each piece to a whole new level. What an inexpensive and creative way to really play up your ensemble. Try clustering 3 or 4 broaches at time for a real statement look.

One of my favorite uses for a broach is to pin it on a necklace. I love multi-layered pearls, particularly when mixed with different styles and lengths of chains. Top the necklace off with one or more broaches to add the finishing touch.

I've been sourcing a variety of broaches for iniam -- hopefully we should have some in over the next couple of weeks!

I know it's Monday and there's quite a bit to discuss this week, but I thought I'd start with something inspirational. I saw this handbag at Barney's a few weeks back. It just arrived when I first saw it. I like to tell myself I was one of the first to fall in love with it. WOW, what a beautiful bag. Sweet and edgy all in one. The metallic fabric is unlike anything I've seen as of late. Aside from being a bit heavy, it's perfection.

I've been in love with Lanvin for so long now (as well as Marni and Valentino...my closet, as small as it is, has room for everyone), but this year, it seems that every time I fall in love with a handbag, it's Lanvin. Whatever you are wearing, this handbag IS your outfit!

Breast Cancer Awareness

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I wanted to take a moment to embrace and support those that are fighting this disease, applaud the survivors and grieve for those who have lost their lives during their battle.

I'd like to remind all of us how important it is to visit our doctors for our yearly exams in addition to continually performing self-exams. I did the Susan G. Komen 3 day, 60 mile breast cancer walk a few years back. The biggest thing I took away from that experience is that this ugly disease can affect ANY woman at ANY time, with no history of it in her family. Women who exercise, eat healthy, live and love life to the fullest have become victims.

I'll be back to style and fashion tomorrow, but I felt remiss not to address something that has affected so many women.

Through the month of October, a portion of all sales made at iniam, will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Rocker Shoes

I love these shoes. They're so not what I would typically buy myself, but I really love them. The flats are by Be and D, also the designer of my beloved Kan Kan Tote. That bag is still on my "must have" list, though I think I am leaning to Lanvin for this year's handbag purchase. My husband and I have a "one handbag per year" quota. Some years I can slip in 2, but I try and stick to the "rules." -- I digress.

I saw these shoes last week while I was in NYC. Of course they didn't have my size so I just stroked the soft buttery leather and then ordered them online. The beauty of the shoe, aside from the obvious, is that the the studded band can be moved to the back of the shoe for a different look. I'm thinking of tight skinny jeans, tshirt, oversized cardigan and of course the flats -- big bag and some sunglasses, and I'm off.

I hope they are comfortable...

I'm Back

I'm back home from NYC. I thought the trip was going to be so much more glamorous than it was. Of course I was there to work, but I kept thinking about being alone with my husband, fancy dinners, shopping, afternoon cappuccinos, shopping, chanel, seeing old friends, shopping...you know what I mean. Instead it was NON STOP appointments and all the fatigue that comes with being on my feet all day. It was HOT and though I took what I thought would be appropriate "walk around New York shoes", my poor little feet were dead by the end of each day. It's hard to put together a fashionable ensemble that has to coordinate with "comfortable" footwear. I mean come on, I was in the fashion mecca working with VERY stylish colleagues. I couldn't just schlep my way into those meetings. I wore flats and flat boots, but even that was too much for my feet. I've tried pricey shoes and not so pricey and when I put both price points to the all day walking test, they both failed. Why is it so hard to find beautiful shoes that are actually good for your feet? I'm on the hunt, and I WILL keep you posted with new finds! If you have any suggestions...do share!

All in all it was a very productive trip. I picked up some exciting new lines and a handful of new accessories, too. I have another buying trip in LA this October. Once that is done I'll share my thoughts on spring 2010. I will say this -- iniam is going to look beautiful!

That makes no sense -- but who cares, we're getting VALENTINO (Red)!!!

It's a celebratory day at iniam. Lot's of giddy laughter and tears of joy. The iniam girls are doing everything from hugging each other to crazy dances that involve the "roger rabbit" and the "kid 'n play". I was on the brink of wetting my pants when the orders were finally submitted. Now it's official. Starting this January, iniam will carry Red by Valentino!!

What a beautiful line! It's a bit pricey, BUT the style, cut, fit and timelessness is...well, Valentino! Really, need I say more?

I did the buying for iniam -- a small but wonderful collection. After that was done, I saw an absolutely beautiful gown that I had to have for myself. Of course I bought it. The other UNWORN gowns in my closet were getting lonely so I thought I would add one more. I'm constantly scouring through city news to find fancy shmancy balls I can sneak into. In the meantime, if you see an overdressed woman at Safeway with two kids -- Yup, it's me!

The Big Apple

I'm in New York City! I dont' think I have ever been in New York, in Manhattan, in a hotel, with a boy - my husband is here with me. My bangs are finally starting to grow out. Thank god. They're at a length that looks decent enough to be worn down instead of slicked back with product and hair pins. The only down side is that I find myself touching them all the time. Naturally that makes my hair oily. I would do just about anything to avoid washing my hair. Correction. I love the washing part, it's the styling thereafter that kills me. I've heard about "dry" shampoo. Basically you can avoid washing your hair for a couple days AND your hair looks great! Recently, I was at a showroom looking at spring clothing when I heard 3 buyers oohing and ahhing over dry shampoo that has revolutionized their lives. Two of the three woman said they can go 4 to 5 days with out washing their hair. Both women swear by Stila dry shampoo and soon so will I. I just bought some and you betcha I am going to put it to the test!

I live close enough to Berkeley that wearing these Pedro Garcia feathered shoes might be the catalyst for getting egg'd. I'll take my chances. I don't own them, YET, but I do have a few pairs of PD and I love them --they're comfortable and just as current now as they were when I originally bought them.

The feathers come in 2 colors, but I'm in love with this iridescent green. You can also find this feathered beauty in a flat, which I have also added to my shopping wish list. I just can't decide. Monday morning decisions are tough, no?

Anyone who knows me knows I have a small wardrobe. I'd like to think it's well edited but let's just say I have more floor length formal gowns than I do jeans. Now if I just had a soiree to attend, I might be able to put some of those dresses to use.

I don't shop often, but when I do, I like to buy things that will live in my closet for seasons and beyond. Of course if an item is going to be around for a while, I need to be able change the style/look of it. A sure fire way mix things up in your wardrobe it by adding a belt.

* Fitted tee, jeans and skinny hip belt: bravo.

* Loose tunic, leggings, knee boots, and a wide waist belt: hats off to you.

*Strapless dress and double wrapped skinny belt: kudos.

Belt your coat, belt a formal dress, belt an open drape james perse blouse...constantly bring excitement and diversity to your outfit. Look for belts that are metallic, animal printed, hardware embellished and in varying colors of leather -- the options are limitless.

Happy Day after the long week-end -- I took a few extra days off last week but I'm back!

There are a lot of exciting things brewing at iniam right now. Can't share just yet, but trust me, it's exciting stuff. I'll keep you guys posted. I will say that we have added some new lines -- Milly, Tracy Reese and Tibi -- AND there are more great lines to come! BEAUTIFUL pieces by TR are "just in" and Milly and Tibi or on there way. We have also added a great selection or leggings -- everything from basic black and chocolate to gray herring bone. If that wasn't exciting enough, iniam is also building a great assortment of foundations by Yummie Tummie and Spanx. In fact, we will be adding on to that category...stay tuned for new arrivals!

As for the blog, I feel that beauty rituals, products and regimes are all a part of what helps perfect our look. Going forward, from time to time, iniam's blog will also include beauty tips, discoveries, tricks, products and services.

Today's Tip:
I hate shaving my legs...but it's gotta be done. For best results, shave your legs within about 5 to 10 minutes of being in the shower when your hair has softened. If you stay in the shower for for 15 minutes or longer, your skin may wrinkle or swell from the hot water which will prohibit your razor from gliding smoothly against the base of your hair.

When I think of the things in my closet that are my most favorite, naturally my mind goes to handbags and shoes and a variety of floor length dresses that I never wear. But the reality is that my favorite clothing is the piece that I can wear with jeans, a skirt, or a great pair of trousers. It's a piece that requires little to no fuss and can dressed up or dressed down depending on the occasion. It's my "go to" when I need to be dressed quick but still look put together.

Right now the best thing to have or to add to your wardrobe is a white blouse. It's an easy, versatile way to look fabulous in no time at all. Tucked in and worn with a skinny belt and jeans or trousers, un-tucked with a high waist skirt, or worn as a tunic over skinny pants or leggings -- you look fresh and appropriate for all the fashion seasons. Try a simple button down that can be dressed up with jewelry or choose an embellished blouse that is a stand alone show stopper. Either way you can't go wrong.

It's really a must have item that is being done, beautifully I might add, at a variety of price points and with a varying levels of detail to best fit your individual style.

The "New" Pant?

It's NO secret that I love skinny pants, skinny jeans, leggings or anything that resembles the aforementioned. It's been my secret weapon during my tumultuous struggle of gaining and losing weight. Who would have thought that a pant starting with the word "skinny" would be my weapon of choice when it came to APPEARING as if I slashed a few pounds?! Let's just say, it works. I like to think of myself as the skinny pant ambassador destined to convert skeptical women everywhere!

I spent a portion of my week-end catching up on fall fashion magazines, reviews, pictures, blogs etc. As I perused and drooled over the best of fall, I found myself gravitating to the same trends irrespective of what publication I saw it in. I'm consistent, if nothing else. Similarly, if I'm not into a trend, I skip right over it. Well, perhaps until now. Being that my first love is the skinny pant, it goes against everything I believe in to entertain a baggy trouser, with pleats no less!

I'm not talking just pleated -- I'm talking about pleated AND droopy, cropped, cuffed and resembling the equally popular harem pant. I cringe just thinking about it. Truth be told though, the pants are spectacular! Somehow the ratio of the waist to the pleats to the roomy legs (mind you the pant should be coupled with a serious heel) seems to do work!

A woman's hips, bum and thighs get lost in the fold of the fabric -- the fit of the pant is forgiving. You get the look of wearing a full skirt while getting the relaxed boyish ease of pants. Seems like a no brainer to me. Of course, like any trend, you have to find the right fit for your frame. Too much fabric can be a fashion disaster.

Pair the voluminous pants with a simple tank, some show stopper jewelry (layered pearls around your neck), knock out heels and a short tailored or crop jacket to balance the look. Add a jeweled clutch or a animal skin (faux is great too) handbag and you've got style maven written all over you!

Any article of clothing that gives my hips, bum and thighs an opportunity to "get lost" -- I'm all over it!

Studs, Chains and Zippers Oh My

There are great trends to follow this fall, one of which is "hardware" for both clothing, shoes and accessories--sort of a dominatrix twist on fall fashion. There is a hard undertone to quite a bit of what is on the runways this upcoming season.

Truth be told, I love some of it and some of it, not so much. Studs, exposed zippers, grommets and chains have been on all types of clothing from blouses to evening wear but it's even more prevalent on accessories. Clothing with this type of embellishment may seem cumbersome to reinvent. But if you stick to something as basic as denim and a crisp tshirt, you can add the gamut of "hardware" accessories and look equally on top of your style game.

On a personal note, I've added some zippers and a beautiful chain necklace (available at iniam) to my wardrobe. Not sure about sunglasses though...think I'll pass!

Over the knee boots are all the rage this fall. Designers are making them both flat and with varying heel heights. If you are anything like me and love the look but aren't quite sure whether you want to take the plunge--look for a pair that allows you to fold down the portion that goes over the knee. This way you can make a more daring statement with the boots over the knee or change it up for a more subtle look when you fold them down. It's 2 looks for the price of one. Gotta love that!

It seems like an eternity since I've been on vacation. With 2 kids, it's challenging enough to go out to eat much less getting on a plane. Unlike me, so many of my customers have gone away this summer -- every where from Aruba to Paris to Vietnam. Even though fall fashion is hitting me in the face and coming into the store at rapid speed, August is still a big travel month and thus buying fall clothing, for some, can seem too early.

I've had several inquiries on how to pack light and pack right when going on summer vacations. Naturally packing "light" and packing right don't always fit in the suitcase together, if you know what I mean. Here are a few suggestions on what to take to your summer destination:

1. Tanks for layering: Take basics: black, white and gray and/or a fashion color like turquoise
2. Cardigan
3. White Jeans
4. Linen Pants: white or black
5. Shorts
6. Dress: Take both short and long. Offers you the most versatility for day and night
7. Swimsuit
8. Flip Flops, sneakers and sandals - wedge or espadrille
9. Printed Tunic to be worn with jeans/linens or as swim suit cover up
10. Scarf/shawl: You can use this as an accessory or for warmth in the evenings

Bonus: Make sure to include accessories to give a little punch to your outfits. Long layered necklaces, colored or sparkly bangles, silver or gold hoop earrings, and straw handbag or hat will add something special to your stylish ensemble.

Cut It or Clip It

I feel terrible. I lied. If it makes you feel better, I'm on the losing end. If I had a penny for every time I came up with a new hair style I wanted...well let's just say I could afford a closet full of red soled shoes. My recent obsession has been getting bangs.

I went to a going away party a few weeks back and the girl who was moving away had the best haircut. She's beautiful to begin with but her hair was spectacular. She had longish hair like mine but she had these soft and wispy bangs across her forehead. Her hair looked fabulous and effortless all at the same time. "I want that hair!", I thought. And then I became obsessed. I talked about it, I looked online for pics -- I even practiced folding may hair so it seemed as though I had bangs. I don't have a "regular" hair stylist -- I did but it's a long story that ended with a traumatizing haircut. I did some Yelp research and took a chance with a salon on College Ave. I won't mention the name (unless you ask me off line).

Now here is is where is the part where I lied. I DID cut bangs. I've had friends ask me if I did it and I have been saying "no!". It took a day to even admit it to my husband. My bangs are frightful. They are too short and my "stylist" did some ADDITIONAL layering to blend the bangs (which, incidentally, I did not ask for) that makes the cut seem even worse. I have been pinning my short bangs back everyday and every night praying they will grow. So far no one has figured it out. Well at least not until now.

My story gets worse. I find out that Jessica Simpson and Ken Paves, stylist to the stars, have come up with "CLIP-IN" bangs. I almost died when I found out! I knew that they were collaborating on a line of clip in hair extensions -- BUT bangs? Why oh why couldn't I figured this out before?

For obvious reasons, I haven't tried them out. No point clipping potentially good bangs on top of my horrible bangs. That would just be pouring salt in the wound. I'm curious though. If you try them out, please let me know what you think.

I'm sorry I lied, but I'm still not showing them to anyone.

I love trends that pack a punch, are easy to interpret and can live in your closet for more than just the season. One of my favorite trends for the fall is animal print. It's sexy, applicable to all age groups AND body types. You can interpret the look as boldly or as minimally as it suits you and your sense of personal style.

If you are feeling bold and love the impact of leopard or zebra print, try a tunic or dress that makes an immediate statement about your bold and stylish flare. If you are looking for a more subtle interpretation, add a leopard print belt to an your outfit for a little pop.

Look for animal prints when buying shoes this season. It's an easy way to add instant style to a simple black dress. Add printed shoes with denim and a crisp tshirt and have a casual/cool look that can take you from day with animal print flats to night with some sexy animal print heels or booties.

If you love the look and want to incorporate it on a daily basis, try an animal print/animal skin handbag that will surely add a sophistication to your everyday outfits.

For those of you that are scared of the look but are intrigued, start with a simple scarf -- it's an easy and inexpensive way to try it out.

Remember that Sex in the City episode where Carrie goes to the horse stables with Charlotte? Carrie, as only Carrie would, showed up in her brand new Manolos. Nothing like horse manure and brand new shoes.

I know that we have all attended an outdoor wedding or a BBQ at the park (what's wrong with wearing heels to the park?) that was definitely not conducive to wearing heels.

Is It Cold Yet?

I grew up in Houston and don't think I ever owned a winter coat. Sure I had some zip up jackets for the occasional cold day BUT nothing that I would have categorized as a real coat much less something fashionable.

Then, on a whim, I decided to move to San Francisco and there began my love and obsession for coats. I couldn't have picked a better city to basque in the frigid air with my (upcoming) long oatmeal colored coat by Transit. Call me crazy but every time I think about it, I hear angels singing.

My love for coats is not just in the obvious beauty of it being well made with impeccable detail, it's that it can actually be your entire outfit. You can wear jeans and a simple, clean tshirt and once you throw on your coat of choice, you are dressed and ready to go. I'm ashamed to admit that there have been many times I've have confidently shopped at the grocery store, IN MY PAJAMAS, because my coat (plus heels) was the perfect camouflage to what could have been a fashion disaster.

Here are a few tips to keep in mind when coat shopping:
1. A trench is a trench is a trench. Need I say more? It's the most timeless, versatile piece of outerwear a girl can own. Sure it's great to stick to a classic khaki trench OR switch it and buy a trench in charcoal gray, cobalt blue or even fuschia pink -- I love the pictured Elizabeth and James trench in white.
2. Look for a coat that allows you to be bold. Try a 3/4 length sleeve -- add long leather gloves for a chic look.
3. Add accessories to your coat: Add some originality to your coat by pinning a vintage broach or a family heirloom to your lapel.
4. If wearing a clean classic coat, add a silk scarf around your neck for color pop and instant style. If you are feeling bold enough try a fur (or faux fur) scarf.
5. Try a sweater coat. For a more casual look or if the climate you allows, a sweater coat is a great option.
5. Be bold. Color is in! As I said, coats aren't just for warmth. If you want your primary coat to be basic then try a peacoat or swing jacket in a bright bold color.

I know it seems crazy to be talking about coats, but the reality is that fall is around the corner and a girl needs to be prepared to shop. Think of a coat as an investment that will stay a part of your wardrobe for seasons to come.

The Sartorialist

As you know I spend quite a bit of my time surfing the net for one thing or the other. It's my quiet escape each day. I recently stumbled on this hilarious flowchart! If the laugh wasn't enough, it led me to a great blog -- The Sartorialist. It's the premiere street style blog that has been selected as one of Time Magazine's Top 100 design influencers. That's a nice feather to put in your cap! The author, Scott Schuman, started The Sartorialist to share photos of people on the streets of New York he thought looked great. That was just the beginning...

There is even a coffee table book available -- makes for a great house warming gift.

The blog is primarily picture based with minimal text when applicable. I love to see fashion in real life. I'm so used to seeing "put together" fashion for runways, magazines and the like. No doubt it's fabulous and I do admire it all. BUT, The Sartorialist showcases real people in everyday life who are fashionable and subsequently, inspiring. I love it. It's Monday and as we head back into the work week it's tough enough trying to get back in the weekly grind muchless worry about what to wear. My tip for this work week and frankly any work week is -- wear a suit. I'm sure many of you have corporate work environments as well as non traditional work environments. I realize that a suit may seem daunting, conservative or even boring, but it really is the most versatile and complete outfit you can have in your closet. There are so many ways to make use of your suit. The the upfront investment for a good quality suit gets paid off in no time at all. Here are a few suggestions on how to continually reinvent a suit to fit your lifestyle:

1. Wear a suit with a tshirt. Change the look of your suit from uber predictable to fun and funky. You don't have to wear a blouse. Instead try a screen print tshirt and tennis shoes. It's and edgy twist on a classic look.
2. Hem your suit pants so you can wear it with flats. These days with the many fantastic flat options, why torture your toes with heels when you can look equally chic with flats.
3. Separate your suit. Use your suit bottoms to with any of the many great blouses you already have in your wardrobe. The jacket can we paired back with a simple vneck tshirt and denim for a more hip and causual look. Add some layered necklaces or a scarf and heels and presto you are ready for anything.
4.Add accessories. Add a colorful hand bag, a patent belt, a colored shoe to jazz up your look. If you opt for a skirt suit, don't be afraid to add textured hoisery to give the suit a pop.
5. Wear your suit through the seasons. You can wear your suit with anything from a silk tank or thsirt in the spring/summer to a light cashmere sweater on turtleneck for the fall/winter.
6. For a sexier look add a sheer blouse under your jacket.

Don't think of your suit as a single unit. Change it up, split it apart and accessorize it in a way that really sets it apart. These days you can find a suit in a price range that fits your budget. You can find great options at Banana Republic, Jcrew, Theory and Armani. Whatever your budget, you can find great suits in colors and cuts that fit you and your lifestyle.

There are many fabulous trends to jump on this fall. One of them being tanks/blouses that have a built in necklace. You'll see everything from chain necklaces to jeweled ones -- many of them removable! It's like you get two tops for the price of one.

We just received the first of several of these tops. It's a black razorback Vince tank and the chains look fantastic. You can layer under a blazer or sweater or wear it over a tank. With skinny pants, jeans, or trousers the tank is a perfect match. Talk about a top that saves you time...your accessories are built in!

We also received several other great Vince items including a versatile grommet dress that can be dressed up or dressed down.

A Little to Lose a Lot to Gain

I recently joined boot camp. What was I thinking? Let me just say there is NOTHING glamorous about walking like a duck -- For the first time in my life I had to take advil to relieve my sore muscles. I am sooooo out of shape.

I'm on a mission. I have never been "skinny", but I was happy with my shape and size. Post babies, my opinion has changed. Maybe it's because I have a suitcase full of beautiful clothes that no longer fit. I've started giving up hope on being able to wear those things again. With all the new things to be bought, I guess I can be talked into starting over. Here is where the problem arises. I'm not exactly where I want to be. I spent a good nine months shoving everything from chocolate bars to chicken pot pie in my mouth. It's going to take little work to get it off. I know I can carve out time to workout, but it's hard to make that commitment and get started. I've just completed my first week of boot camp and I love it. I feel like Sheera! And as insane is this sounds, I am craving exercise. Who am I?

The reality is that I have made time for 3 days a week, and that's it. BUT I found something that adds a little extra someTHINg, someTHINg, to my work out schedule. Reebok has introduced a tennis shoe that actually tones key leg muscles like your glutes, hamstrings, and calf muscles just by wearing the shoes. Dolce, Dolce, Dolce

I know this is not the best picture. I've tried my hardest to find one that would really do this piece the justice it so deserves. For now, I've scanned it in so that I can share what has been making my heart go pitter patter. Ever since I saw this necklace in the March issue of Harper's Bazaar, I have been obsessed. When I flipped to the page that showcased this work of art, I immediately tore it out and archived it. That tear out may very well be the closest I get to it. You'd think that March obsessions would have long be replaced by April, May and June obsessions. I've added new things to dream about, but I'm still hopelessly devoted to this Dolce & Gabbana beauty. I love the full layered chains mixed with pearls -- feminine and edgy all at the same time. I've come to terms with knowing it won't be mine but I've been scouring stores and websites to see if I can come close. This look is a show stopper and is available at many different price points. Here are a few suggestions of other necklaces that I am very fond of.

Tom Binns necklaces are all fantastic. Celebrities and the first lady are all rockin' his jazzy jewels. His pieces are pricey but completely worth it.

A more affordable version is currently available at Banana Republic. It's not as full but uses a great mix of chain and pearls. Add a broach from your own jewerly collection and make the necklace even more interesting.

I've seen "look-a-likes" everywhere from BCBG to Barneys. There are many great pieces out there that encompass this style. Whatever your choice for necklace, add it to an open neckline and transform whatever you are wearing from great to spectacular!

As for me -- if anyone bumps into my Dolce, christmas is less than 6 months away...I can wait.

Sell Something, Buy Something

If you've been reading the blog, you know we've started our clearance sale. Frankly, so has everyone else. Stores from Old Navy to Bergdorfs, are offering deals on this seasons hits and misses. Though the main reason for end of season sales is to make room for the upcoming season's goodies, it's also when buyers come to terms with the fact that sometimes things we think will sell, clearly do not. Whatever the reason for mark down, it's all about getting something you want for less.

But what about us the consumer? We've all had spectacular purchases in our past -- everything from sequin vests (what was I thinking?) to things we've lied to our husbands about. In our defense, we wore those things and loved them and took care of them and now several seasons later, it's time to part ways. Perhaps you just want to make some much needed room in your closet. It can be overwhelming to look at a closet full of "inactive" clothing and try to put together something you feel good in.

But what does that mean for us? How can we "clearance" our own closets? We spent good money on those things. Why shouldn't we be able to salvage some of that initial investment?

Here are a few tips on how to recoup some money:

1. Consignment/Trading Store: Everyone should have a trading store in their neighborhood. Take your unwanted clothing, shoes, accessories over so that the staff can examine your goods and then offer you a price for items they feel will sell at their store. It can be a little time consuming but easy nonetheless! Crossroads and Bufflo Exchange are two great options. Otherwise you can visit your local consignment store. Unlike the trading stores, consignment stores will take your clothing and pay you out as it sells. Either way you are in the money!
2. Use craigslist.com or eBay.com: I recommend this for some of your more designer clothing and shoes. Just post your items and get ready to be amazed by how easy it can be to make money.
3. Throw a SWAP party: Simply invite your girlfriends over for an afternoon/evening of tasty treats and some easy shopping. Ask your friends to bring clothes they are ready to part way with. Set up mini boutiques with each friend being the "store owner". Then, 1-2-3...start shopping! Attendees can charge money for items or simply trade. The more friends you invite the more variety and sizes you will have. Feel free to add maternity or kids clothing if you like. Add some bubbly and hors d'oeuvres and presto the evening is a hit and everyone goes home with something they love!
4. Donate: Lastly, if you're done with your clothing and simply want to get rid of it without much thought or preparation, you can donate the clothing to a variety of charitable organizations in your local area. You may not make any money but you will help someone out that may not have otherwise been able purchase that clothing.

Hmmmm...sounds like it's time to go shopping again!

It's no secret that I often use the web as my escape from the work that is piling up on my desk. I'm notorious about procrastinating. I'm one of those people that just works better under pressure. If there is any wiggle room on due dates then I'm either catching up on my favorite blogs or checking to see if my jeweled d'orsay Valentino heels have been marked down. At $995 a pair, I can hear my husband saying "it's either me or the shoes!"

My latest online find are these GORGEOUS earrings --the picture does NOT do them justice. I love antiques, mostly furniture but I am also very partial to antique jewelry. These earrings are by no means antique, but they do look like something you would buy at the estate sale of someone with a fabulous social calendar.

I didn't buy them online at first, but when I saw them in person, I just couldn't resist. The only downside is they're a bit heavy and I imagine that after an evening of compliments, my little ears will be sore. Small price to pay for looking fabulous, no?

Fashion That Never Dies

I didn't know Michael personally, but it feels like I grew up with him. Clearly I wasn't on his emergency contact list, but with all the success and media frenzy over the years -- hit singles, molestation allegations, plastic surgery, dangling babies, Neverland, Pepsi commercials...he's always been a part of the background. With the resurgence of MJ's accomplishments, I have been reminded of what a musical genius he was. Of course there is no denying he was a bit weird, but whatever, the man could sing and dance. And if that wasn't enough, he's also had quite an impact on fashion as well.

There’s the red leather motorcycle jacket he rocked in the “Beat It” video, the white ankle socks and black loafers he wore when he moonwalked, the military-style jacket and aviator sunglasses he toured in during the “Thriller” era, the white vneck tshirt that he always tore open and then there was that legendary glove he first wore during a performance of “Billie Jean” in '83.

Apparently Michael was collaborating with Christian Audigier to launch his own clothing line. The line was supposed to debut this fall and would have been sold exclusively through L.A. Boutique Kitson. There aren't any details on what it would have consisted of nor is there any information on the status of the line. If it comes to fruition, I'm thinking it's gonna sell!

Michael set trends in the 80's and now almost two decades later he is still doing it. Most noticeably, Balmain's military jacket (or "michealesque" jacket) came down runways for Spring '09. The jacket has been a hot item for the who's who in the celebrity world. For those of you that love the look but don't have $11,000 laying around for a jacket, Alice and Olivia will put out an affordable version of the jacket that will cost about $400 to $500. You just can't "beat it" -- I know, I know... I couldn't resist.

Fall 2

Designers use the term Fall 2 to refer to the second half of fall collections also referred to as holiday. I was in LA last week to see what's new for Fall 2 and I'm pleased to say it looks great! I have a little more buying to do and then I'll be back to share a full recap of what to look for this fall. It's promising though.

Summer has really just begun and I'm already freakishly awaiting my Heike Jarick cocoon coat. That's the probably the only down side to my job. I'm always excited about the next season -- by the time it gets here...I'm on to yearning for something else!

Let's Get Twiggy With It

It's about time that the maker of leggings and the maker of denim sat down at a conference table and figured out how to join forces. Well, I'm pleased to announce the birth of "leggim", at least that's what I like to call them.

What a concept -- all the comfort of leggings plus the stylish look and feel of denim. We are excited to have the twiggy leggims by James Jeans. They're not here yet, but I did get a sample pair for myself and oooooooh, I love them. The best part is they have a functional zipper and pockets -- they look just like jeans. Whether you sport your twiggy's with a tshirt or a tunic, you can't go wrong. Add flats, heels or boots and presto, you're a style maven!

Little Fashion

I'm guessing that many of my fashion diva readers are sans kids. No, this is NOT an attempt to convince you to come over to the other side. You may or may not have kids of your own, but I'm sure at this point in your life you're either related to or are good friends with someone that does. This of course brings me back to shopping -- surprise, surprise. Whether it's Christmas, a birthday or kindergarten graduation...I'm sure you have several reasons to do some kiddie shopping.

I've come across a handful of designers that do a kids line. As a mother of 2 boys, I find that the designer selection for boys is not very exciting. On the other hand, the clothing for little girls is just ADOREABLE. 3.1 Phillip Lim, Calypso, and get this...Chloe -- all have a kids line. These lines aren't inexpensive, but these days with sites like Gilt Groupe, you can find great deals.
Recently, I found that Oscar de la Renta has also launched a kids line. The designer has created charming frocks from leftover bolts of fabric from his collections. Though the prices range from $200 to $350 the label has partnered with Children's Defense Fund and is donating a portion of the proceeds to the charity.

My sister-in-law is about to have a baby girl. Are you thinking what I am thinking? I wonder if my SIL will think it's weird if her daughter and I are wearing matching Phillip Lim dresses? Naaaaah!

Affordable ROY

We've carried a lot of lines over the years, 4 years to be exact as of May 15th. Many of them have been with us from the get go and yet there are many to whom we've said good-bye. In a perfect world perhaps we wouldn't let any lines go, instead we would just keep adding more and more. But the reality is that designers evolve. Sometimes so much so that are no longer a good fit for iniam. Plus, lets face it...I want to new lines to admire and drool over.

One of my favorite designers which is no longer part of our vendor roster is my beloved Rachel Roy. I had the pleasure of meeting Rachel when we carried the collection. It's a rare time when you get to meet someone who is equally warm and humble as they are beautiful and talented! We brought Rachel's fabulous clothing to iniam in 2005 when she first launched the line. Talk about a collection that has evolved. We carried the line for several seasons and as the became more sophisticated it also moved to a price point that didn't sit well with our contemporary designers.

Though the collection is now in a young designer category it's still a line I love and admire. You can imagine my shock when I learned that Rachel Roy is now doing a line for Macy's available this August. "The cool, colorful collection, geared toward a young, hip shopper, will offer great style at great prices." Rachel will offer footwear, accessories, and sportswear ranging in price from $59 to $299.

This economy may be a downer but perhaps it's inspiring designers to put out lines that are affordable to the masses. Whatever the reason, I'm counting down the days till August. It's about time Rachel and I are reunited!

Are Skinny Jeans Bad For Your Health

I know I've said it a million times -- I LOVE skinny jeans! What's not to love? It's my sure fire way to look thinner. I do, however, find that many of my customers think that you have to be a size 2 before daring to put on a pair of skinnies, muchless show them off to the public. I beg to differ.

All my jeans are skinny. With all the voluminous tops and sweaters available this fall, my skinny jeans will come in handy. I'm curvy on bottom so a top with volume paired with a thin narrow leg on bottom gives a slimming illusion. But, whether you wear a body conscious tshirt, an aline tunic or a belted tunic...all options are a winner with skinny jeans. Best of all you can wear flats, heels or boots to complete the look.

You can imagine my shock when I stumbled on the following article claiming that skinnies are hazardous to your health.
